Meet Outdoor Driven Ambassador…
Shane Browning
“My passion for the electrical trades has taken me in many directions. I started out in a small local automotive electronics shop learning the basics of DC electrical systems. My next path took me into the inside wiremen trade servicing and building industrial, commercial and residential projects of all kinds. Now I am a transmission substation operator and electrical maintenance technician servicing the bulk electrical system here in my home state of Michigan.
My whole childhood was spent in the outdoors. My parents made it a regular point to take my brother and I camping, fishing and hunting. My dad got me my first compound bow at a young age, teaching me to shoot with fingers and then on to a release. From there I was hooked. It’s the deer camps. The high fives and celebrations after a successful hunt from anyone in camp and the tale of the hunt around the campfire that holds a special place deep down in my soul.
Being an electrician may be what I do but I was made for the archery community. Having gone through my own battles with depression and anxiety I’ve realized just how therapeutic archery, and the outdoors has been for me. Outdoor Driven has shown me that I am far from alone in this battle for a better mental health. I’ve seen the positive impact this passion of mine can truly have on all the service men and women right here in my own state and still continue the fight for their mental health every day. It’s the least I can do to share my experiences with all of them because they all have given so much for me. One of the most important things I have come to realize is that it takes a team to truly achieve happiness and success, and I hope I can be one more member that helps in the journey to positive impact to those in need.”

“I am a 100% disabled Army veteran, and I served in Iraq back in 2005. I’m a husband, father and an outdoor lover. I fish the Michigan Walleye Tour with hopes of one day fishing in the NWT. I hunt here in Michigan and travel to hunt in other states as well. I absolutely love being outside when I physically can. Mentally it really does heal the mind and heart just being outside.
I love to see my brothers and sisters smile from catching a fish, seeing a sunset, and simply enjoying the outdoors. See you outside!”

“My love for the outdoors started when I was a kid, tagging along with my dad on hunting trips. As an adult, I’ve had the joy of passing that same love and knowledge on to my son, who is now starting to share my passion for the outdoors. Seeing the smile on his face when he shoots a deer or reels in a big fish is one of my favorite parts of being a mom!
I work for the Michigan Department of Corrections and was honored to be selected for a fishing trip with Outdoor Driven in 2024. On that trip, I was blessed to catch a once-in-a-lifetime sturgeon – an experience that inspired me to give back and support the mission of Outdoor Driven! I deeply admire what this organization stands for and am excited to help get more veterans and first responders, especially women, into the outdoors to experience the same joy and healing that it brings me.“

“I was raised on the water and learned to fish as soon as I could walk. Eventually that turned into hunting, camping and anything else outdoors I could find to do. I am an Army veteran and served overseas in Afghanistan. When I got out of the military, I started my career in HVAC and I now own my own company in Northeast Michigan.

My true passion is taking people outdoors for their first time hunting or fishing and getting to share the experience and that pure joy of a first fish or duck. Seeing a flock of ducks work into the decoys and the dog doing a perfect retrieve is the ultimate outdoor experience. Getting to share that with people especially through an organization like Outdoor Driven is truly an honor.“
What is an Outdoor Driven Ambassador?!
Our dedicated Ambassadors help us to increase awareness and support for our mission. These passionate individuals have been hand-picked by our Founder, Andrew Comtois, to represent the nonprofit, showcasing its values and mission, and they help to spread the word about our great organization’s work to an even larger audience. Each Ambassador has been/will be carefully selected for not only their professional backgrounds, but also for their character and their passion to help our nations Heroes.
Our Ambassadors act as another face of our nonprofit, sharing their positive experiences and encouraging others to support our cause. They also may volunteer during fundraising events as well as go on a number of Outdoor Driven trips alongside our Heroes to aid in guiding their trip experience. We aim to add more to our team to possibly include a mix of passionate donors, volunteers, and even local influencers who connect with our mission.
